Continuous Combat
Have you experienced a war between your thoughts and external factors, impeding your growth?
So many things can impact our growth. Often, we get in the way of progress because of our own actions or thoughts. We also allow others to second guess our actions, or beliefs. We have days when it feels we can do nothing right. It is continuous combat of internal and external factors. We may encounter others who question our motives, or we may get easily offended when we are left out and bypassed by others. It truly is like fighting a war to win our path to success. We do not always hold confidence in ourselves, even though we can achieve whatever we want. I assure you; you can win this war!
The first battle we must face is with our own thoughts, and self-confidence. When we fail to see our own value, we will not progress forward on goals, out of fear. If we see ourselves as less than, we will become complacent and never act. Moving and progressing forward, even if it is in small increments, is progress. We can only improve our confidence and self-worth through action. We must move past being scared, and step into it with unwavering commitment to achieve.
Battles with the opinions of others will affect our belief structure. Sometimes we allow opinions of others to cloud our judgement and decision making. When we act and make decisions that do not align with their opinions, they will often attack. The first thing they will attack is your character. They may call you a liar or something else. Second, they will accuse you or your group of the vilest of charges. The goal is to cast a shadow on any action you have taken, and to crush your core values and beliefs.
The most important battle that we must win is with ourselves. We know ourselves better than anyone. Allowing anyone to attack our character is unacceptable. This is why we must know ourselves, and the values we hold dear. We cannot allow people to speak of us, or our organizations in a negative way. We must draw a line in the sand and tell truth of our character and values. These beliefs are non-negotiable, that we must never allow people to speak poorly of. This is especially true when we choose to live our lives under the guidance of our core values.
Do you genuinely believe in your abilities?
How much credibility do you give the opinions of others?
How do you articulate your non-negotiables with those around you?
Our personal growth is a continuous battle between ourselves, other people’s views of us, and many outside factors. This is why I value this area of coaching. Knowing ourselves saves us from following the wrong paths in every step of our lives. You hold so much value, and you can fulfill your goals and dreams only if you follow your moral compass. I wish you the best week ahead, as you keep true to your core values and beliefs.
